We build with those requirements in mind from the start. That means looking at the fence itself as well as what sits around it, including retaining walls, garden beds, steps and other potentially climbable objects.

Pool fencing FAQs
Does the council have to inspect it?
Yes. Pool barriers in WA are subject to inspection, and the requirements can change over time, so it’s worth confirming the current rules with your local council. We build to the requirements that apply when we quote.
Glass or tubular?
Glass is a good option if you want a clear view of the pool from the house and don’t mind keeping it clean. Tubular or flat-top steel is generally cheaper and easier to maintain. Both can meet the requirements when they’re designed and installed properly.
Can a retaining wall be part of the barrier?
Sometimes. It depends on the height of the wall, the pool barrier and what sits on either side of it. It’s worth having us look at it on site, because getting the levels or barrier height wrong can mean failing an inspection.
