Retaining wall FAQs
Which wall type should I pick?
Limestone suits the traditional Perth look, while modular works well if you want a choice of colours or a curve, and post and panel is a practical option for long, straight runs or taller walls. Height, soil and budget usually settle it, and we’ll tell you which one we’d use on your block.
Do I need council approval?
Most councils require an application once a wall goes over 500mm, and some may also require engineering drawings. We’ll let you know what your council needs when we come out and can point you towards an engineer if the wall requires one.
Who pays for a boundary wall?
If the wall holds soil back for both properties, the cost is usually shared with your neighbour. We can prepare the quote so the cost is split between you, with both parties receiving the same paperwork.
How long does a wall take?
A typical residential wall takes two to four days on site. Long walls, hard rock or wet weather can add a day or two. Your quote will give you actual dates rather than a rough time window.
Can you fix a wall instead of replacing it?
Sometimes. If the footing is sound and the problem is drainage, we can often fix it; if the wall has moved significantly, rebuilding that section can make more sense than repairing it twice. We’ll give you an honest answer when we inspect it.
